Who am I?

I am a marketing dude that puts technology start-ups in the B2B and B2C space on the wave to success.

I am a strong believer in marketing as a strategic activity that is absolutely crucial to every start-ups achieving its goals.

I am passionate about developing and executing a marketing plan that gets the right message to the right audience at the right time using the best tactics for the available resources and budget.

I am also a writer struggling to finish my first novel and a photographer trying to find time to take more pictures and edit the ones already taken.

I am a Canadian that is expanding my knowledge and experience by working in the US, first in Dallas and now in Silicon Valley.

What have I done?

I have successfully launched start-ups (TimeStep was successfully acquired by Newbridge and then Alcatel) and led the relaunch of a public company (Certicom share price increased 7.5x during my tenure and the company was acquired by RIM) that had fallen on hard times. I’m currently launching a new Silicon Valley-based start-up in the identity theft and online security space.

I have over 14 years experience developing:

  • award-winning product and corporate launches;
  • simple and differentiated messages that communicate the value of the company’s offerings;
  • successful marketing campaigns that increase company awareness and generate qualified leads;
  • top-ranked websites that get the company found and present valuable content;
  • compelling sales tools that push prospects through the sales funnel;
  • public relations efforts that generate coverage in business and trade publications while winning several product awards for industry validation.

More specific details about my career can be found on my LinkedIn profile.

Why Dude, It’s Marketing?

Dude, It’s Marketing is my personal blog about how start-ups can use marketing to ride the wave to success. It allows me to share my experiences and knowledge so you can learn from them while at the same time allowing me to learn more about marketing from you.

I launched this blog in 2009, after a couple of failed attempts, and I plan to make 2010 the year where I contribute more regularly and also make the site more visual.

Dude, It’s Marketing is my commitment to give back to the marketing and start-up communities I take part in everyday.
